Gallery: Inside a Poultry Farm

Chicken carcasses make their way through Perdue’s Georgetown, Del., processing facility. After slaughter, defeathering and evisceration (steps that News21 was not permitted to photograph), carcasses pass through a quick burst of flames that removes any remaining feathers. From here, the line of chickens will split: Some will be packaged as whole roasters, while the rest will be cut up and separated by parts. Click on the thumbnails below to view this gallery.
