Comment on Tainted Seafood Reaching U.S., Food Safety Experts Say by sharon https://foodsafety.news21.com/2011/imports/seafood/#comment-463 sharon Wed, 05 Oct 2011 16:44:45 +0000 https://foodsafety.news21.com/?page_id=721#comment-463 As a parent, i do have concerns about both candy imported from China/Thailand and sold at major retailers such as Michaels, WalMart etc.In the checkout aisle last week, my daughter grabbed a lollypop (imported from China). I asked the Michael's Arts & Crafts manager about the imported candy and he assured me the FDA checks the candy. I have similar concerns about the safety of seafood from restaurant chains such as Red Lobster. Is there any safety measures, I can take as a parent, to ensure my family is not endangering their health? How can we encourage restaurants like Red Lobster to list the country of origin? Thanks! Comment on Antibiotics in Livestock Fuel Debate Over Hazardous Meat and Poultry by Steve Roach https://foodsafety.news21.com/2011/risks/antibiotics/#comment-457 Steve Roach Wed, 05 Oct 2011 15:54:56 +0000 https://foodsafety.news21.com/?page_id=681#comment-457 The graphic on contributions is very questionable. If I put in the same range of dates on the maplight.org site I get much higher numbers for the livestock industry 12 million for livestock which means pigs and beef cattle, 13 million for dairy, and 4 million for poultry and egg. Even more important is the pharmaceutical industry is missing from the livestock sector side or perhaps even lumped with medical groups. The graphic on contributions is very questionable.
